DMRC docu film on Ph-III challenges selected for Mumbai International Film Festival

A documentary film on the challenges faced by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation during expansion works carried out under the network’s Ph-III has been selected for screening at the 17th Mumbai International Film Festival, officials said on Thursday.

The film will be screened on June 3 in the Indian Panorama section.

“Rails in coils! Delhi Metro Documentary Film ”Overcoming Challenges” based on DMRC Phase 3 construction works will be screened at 17th Mumbai International Film Festival tomorrow i.e. 3rd June 2022 at 11.30am in Indian Paranoma section,’ Delhi Metro tweeted.

The film produced by the DMRC, was selected in 2021 in the Indian Panorama section of the 52nd edition of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held in Goa.

The 28-minute non-feature film discusses the various construction-related challenges facing DMRC during its third phase of expansion.

During Phase III, the company constructed about 190 km of new lines and faced innumerable challenges, such as construction in the congested localities of Old Delhi, a route passing through an extremely busy road intersection in Ashram and construction of Delhi Metro’s deepest station at Hauz Khas, according to a statement released by DMRC.

Extensive filming of the various locations as well as the retrieval of relevant archive footage had to be carried out to make the film a reality, Delhi Metro had said.

The film is available on the official DMRC YouTube channel.

The current reach of the DMRC network is almost 392 km with 286 stations (including the Noida – Greater Noida metro corridor and the rapid metro, Gurugram).
