IU Wins Best New Actress Award at 27th Chunsa International Film Festival – Up News Info

Famous Korean singer IU won the Best New Actress award at the 27th Chunsa International Film Festival held in Seoul on Sept. 30.

It started as Chunsa Arts Awards in 1990 and eventually became Chunsa International Film Festival. The film festival was launched in honor of Korean filmmaker and actor Na Un-gyu whose pseudonym was Chunsa.

IU won Best New Actress for her role in the film “Broker,” which screened at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

However, IU was unable to attend the awards ceremony as she was classified as a close contact of someone who tested positive for Covid-19.

IU attended Milan Fashion Week and returned to South Korea on September 29. She underwent PCR tests and her results did not come out on September 30.

Oh Na-ra from Korean entertainment program “Sixth Sense” won Best Supporting Actress for “Maybe Love.”

Best New Actor – Mu Jin-Sung, “Maybe Love” and Kim Dong-hwi, “In Our Prime”

Best New Actress – Lee Ji-eun (IU), “Broker”

Chunsa International Director Award – Kore-eda Hirokazu, “Broker”

Audience Award for Most Popular Film – “The Roundup”

Best Screenplay – Kim Han-min and Yun Hong-gi, “Hansan: Rising Dragon”

Technical Award – Director of Photography Choi Young-hwan, “Escape from Mogadishu”
