CHICAGO – The stage is set for a welcome site on Lake Chicago. Next week, live performances return to Navy Pier for the first time in over 18 months.
Celebration at Navy Pier kicks off with a brand new event – Chicago LIVE!, a free two-day outdoor festival to celebrate the return of the city’s best arts and entertainment. The two-day lakeside celebration is September 24-25. Interpreters, such as ‘As you like it,’ Actor Kayvon Khoshkam told WGN they couldn’t contain their excitement.
âI’m really excited for Chicago to see the wrestling, the wrestling live in a Shakespeare play,â Khoshkam said. “I don’t think they’ll be ready for this.”
He’s performing with the Chicago Shakespeare Theater and is excited to show Chicagoans what to expect on October 6 when the show takes the stage.
âIt’s a love story above all and Shakespeare’s wedding ‘As You Like It’, which is an exploration of love with the music of The Beatles,â Khoshkam said. âThey complement each other in a miraculous way. ”
Actor Ivri Skye, who’s working with another production, has said he’s ready to return to the stage.
âDue to Covid, we couldn’t schedule a show anywhere,â she said. âSo it was tough, but I’m glad it’s opening up now. Anyone can get art.
In addition to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, other performances will include the Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, Broadway Chicago and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
The performances will run from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and from noon to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Participants must present a COVID-19 vaccination card or proof of a negative test within the past 48 hours. Free rapid tests will be available on site.
âSure, when I have time, I’m going to watch plays,â Skye says, âbecause I really like to watch plays and see other people.â
