The Windsor International Film Festival returns after a two-year absence
The lineup for the 2022 Windsor International Film Festival has been announced.
This year’s festival will feature 177 feature films and documentaries, including 24 shorts. There will be a total of 311 screenings.
This is the 18th year of the festival returning after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.
Vincent Georgie, Executive Director and Chief Programmer, says they are bringing some major titles to the festival.
“We are very happy to share that Sarah Polley’s Women Talking, starring Rooney Mara, Jessie Buckley, Claire Foy, will be here at the festival,” he says. “It’s a Universal Pictures movie, it’s a major Oscar nominee based on Miriam Toews’ novel.”

Empire of Light by Sam Mendes will open the festival. Other highlights include Sarah Polley’s Women Talking, which was recently a TIFF People’s Choice Award finalist, Triangle of Sadness (Palme d’Or, Cannes 2022), Holy Spider (Winner: Best Actress, Cannes 2022), Close (Winner: Grand Prix, Cannes 2022), Broker (Winner: Best Actor, Cannes 2022) and Lee Jung-jae’s Hunt, with Heo Sung-tae (Squid Game).
Georgie is excited about the ‘Squid Game’ star’s new movie.
“Lee Jung-jae’s new film which he not only stars in but also owes his directorial debt, Hunt, will also be at the festival. It’s here in pre-release. It’s very exciting, everywhere film from action. There’s not a moment to breathe in this film, it’s a whole night at the cinema,” he says.
The 11-day film festival will open on Thursday October 27 and end on Sunday November 6.
The film festival will present this year’s lineup in three locations:
– The Capitol Theater at 121 University Ave. W.
