Thélios is the official eyewear sponsor of the Venice Film Festival

It’s not just cinema at film festivals. Fashion is also a major component, and Thélios (the LVMH eyewear expert) has signed a three-year strategic collaboration with La Biennale di Venezia (the Venice Film Festival), which starts today until September 10e.

“The Venice International Film Festival is one of the most prestigious events in the world and we are proud to support La Biennale di Venezia, which is a strong ambassador of Italian culture on a global level”, shares Alessandro Zanardo, CEO of Thelios in a statement.

This new collaboration makes Thélios the official eyewear sponsor, thus officially bringing the company founded in 2017 into the world of cinema. Thélios will have a suite and a showroom at the Hotel Excelsior with an exclusive selection of eyewear from the fall-winter 2022 collections of Dior, Fendi, Stella McCartney, Kenzo, Fred, Loewe and Givenchy. It is a space for guests and press junkets for select films, as well as other media and industry events.

Since there are two sides to film festivals, the serious cinema side and the fashion side, their marriage is symbiotic. Actors must be seen on red carpets, for interviews and at photocalls, and they must look the part from their fashion to their accessories. And because the sun shines in Venice, sunglasses are essential.

“Cinema and eyewear have always been a perfect match, through aesthetics and a passion for detail, giving people a view of the world,” continues Zanardo. “In the history of cinema, glasses have helped create iconic characters in cinema and define their personalities: we couldn’t imagine a better field of expression than this festival, so close to our roots in the Veneto region”

Thelios is the Greek name for “gods”. Theia is the goddess of light, while Helios is the sun god. LVMH’s goal was to have a strong footing in the eyewear business, and the fashion conglomerate designs, produces and distributes sunglasses and optical frames for brands like Kenzo, Berluti and other brands of luxury. Manufacturing takes place in Longarone, Italy. The company takes the respective identity of each brand and creates Italian craftsmanship. For Thélios, it was obvious for the company to join the Festival.
