Overture with Noah Baumbach’s adaptation of White noise, the 79th edition will see Hollywood alike and Gucci-clad alike descend on the Lido for 10 days of red carpet events. Among the films in competition for the Golden Lion this year: don’t worry darlingOlivia Wilde’s dystopian thriller starring Florence Pugh and Harry Styles; Blond, Ana de Armas’ controversial biopic about Marilyn Monroe; and bones and allwhich brings together Luca Guadagnino and Timothée Chalamet for the first time since 2017 call me by your name.

As always in Venice, what happens outside of the screenings will be as captivating as the films themselves. With Chalamet and Styles in attendance, we’re all but assured of a masculine style that pushes the boundaries, while Cate Blanchett’s presence in support of his upcoming film Tar promises sparkling Armani dresses and spectacular McQueen looks.
